How to Use a T-money Card in Korea: A Simple Guide for First-Time Visitors

If you plan to use buses or subways in South Korea, a T-money card is one of the easiest ways to pay for transportation. This rechargeable card saves you from buying a separate ticket for every ride and makes transfers more convenient.

What Is a T-money Card?

T-money is a prepaid transportation card. You add money to the card first, then tap it on a card reader whenever you enter or leave public transportation.

It is widely accepted on city buses and subway systems throughout Korea. It can also be used on many taxis and at participating convenience stores and vending machines.

Where Can You Buy One?
